I gave myself a FabFitFun annual subscription last year for my birthday and I’ve loved getting a new box filled with beauty, fashion, wellness and fitness pics delivered each quarter. While I’ve absolutely loved each box I’ve received, the Spring 2018 edition has been my favorite box so far.
How it works
Before we dive into what’s in the box, let’s talk about how FabFitFun works. You can choose to be either an annual member or a seasonal member.
- Seasonal members pay $49.99 for each box and choose if they want that quarter’s box shipped to them.
- Annual members pay $179.99 and automatically receive a box each season. Annual members also get to customize portions of each box and get access to add on items a bit earlier than seasonal members.
No matter which subscription option you choose, each box has at least $200 worth of beauty, fashion, wellness and fitness surprises. If you are interested and would like $10 off your first order, use my referral link.
FabFitFun spring 2018 review
The FabFitFun spring 2018 box arrived just before I headed to Baltimore to give a presentation and I couldn’t wait to get back and really check everything out. The products in my box are valued at more than $347 and there isn’t a bad apple in the bunch.
This season’s box had two choice items and two select items for annual subscribers. This means there were two categories where you could choose between two options and two options that you could select which color/version you wanted.
My choice options
For the beauty category, I chose between KORRES guava body butter and KNC Beauty all natural collagen infused lip mask (5 pack). Since I’m super scent-sensitive, and because I love a good beauty mask, I chose the lip masks. According to FabFitFun, these masks work to plump and hydrate delicate lips. Infused with collagen, rose flower oil, cherry extract and vitamin E, this gel-textured treatment is supposed to leave you with the perfect pout. I tried out the lip mask and while I’m not sure I have the perfect pout, it did make my dry lips softer and more hydrated. Retail value: $24.99.
For the jewelry category, I chose between Maya Brenner Designs LOVE bracelet and Ettika day dreamer tassel earrings in black or peach. While the LOVE bracelet was beautiful, the layered tassel earrings were my choice. I have been looking for tassel earrings for a while and these are beautiful. Since I have black loop tassel earrings, I chose the peach ones. These statement earrings are perfect to pair with a business suit or jeans and a t-shirt. In fact, I’ve already done both! Retail value: $58.
My select options
FabFitFun included the perfect clutch in this season’s box. The Rachel Pally reversible clutch comes in three options: bloom, zahara and paradise. I was immediately drawn to the coral, navy and aqua of the paradise clutch – this is my favorite color combination and I knew this clutch would work well with my wardrobe. The reversible bag comes with a canvas pattern on one side and a solid color buttery vegan leather on the other. There is a pocket inside the clutch and the zipper has a sweet tassel on the end from the same vegan leather as the solid side. I can see pairing the clutch with a simple solid navy sundress with the patterned side out or jeans and a top with the solid side out. Either way, this clutch is an outfit maker. Retail value: $60.
The final select option is an Anderson Lilley sunset collection candle in manhattan beach, fresh linen or super bloom. As a scent-sensitive person, I was a bit worried about this one. I read the scent descriptions closely and thought manhattan beach was the best choice for me. When the FabFitFun box arrived, I expected the entire thing to smell like the candle, but I was pleasantly surprised – I couldn’t smell anything until I opened the box the candle came in. The copper vessel is beautiful and the coconut was blend candle was light, clean and absolutely delicious. I’m excited to light this candle and have my whole house smell like the beach. Retail value: $45.
FabFitFun picks
The rest of the box was a total surprise and was full of fantastic pics. As a mom of two littles, I can see getting a lot of use out of the Physique 57 massage roller. While I’m not exactly a fitness queen, I do carry my kiddos and get on the floor to play – two things that make this almost 40-year-old sore from time to time. This roller claims to improve flexibility, break up scar tissue and keep tender muscles at bay – all from just 5 to 20 minutes with the tool. I’ve used it a bit on my shoulders and am impressed thus far – we’ll see if there are fabulous long-term results. Retail value: $20
As I’ve gotten older, my skin has become drier and my rosacea has really acted up. Because of these things, I’m always looking for moisturizers formulated for sensitive skin. The Murad skin perfecting lotion has long been on my radar, but I’ve been hesitant to buy a full-sized product without trying it out first. This is one of my favorite things about FabFitFun boxes – the ability to try high-quality skincare. I’m looking forward to seeing if the lotion helps minimize pores, refines texture and soothes redness and irritation as it promises. If it does, I may have a new favorite moisturizer. Retail value: $40.
I was completely shocked to see the ISH lip statement palette in the box. I haven’t had a lip palette since I was in high school in the ’90s. That being said, a good lip palette is a fantastic tool in the makeup arsenal and I’ve already mixed a few of the shades to find the perfect red for me. Bunny was quick to show interest in this one as well and it gets a thumbs up from me and my four-year-old daughter. Retail value: $42.
When we moved last summer, my nail polish remover opened and ruined quite a bit of my polish collection. I love that FabFitFun included the Dermelect Cosmeceuticals makeover concealing ridge filler. While I don’t typically have ridges on my nails, I like that this product will help strengthen my nails with a combination of protein, vitamins and moisture. The pale pink color is subtle and is something I can wear for work and play. Retail value $18.
For me, the sleeper hit of the spring box is the Free People x Understated Leather starry-eyed travel eye mask. (See what I did there?) This soft, vegan leather mask has a cooling gel insert tucked inside. For me, spring comes with allergies and a cooling eye mask is just what my eyes need when the pollen is out. The mask has an adjustable strap, so even those with larger noggins can find a setting that is comfortable for them. Plus, the metallic stars scattered across the pale pink vegan leather are adorable. If you want to use this as a sleeping mask, I can promise that it will keep your neighbor’s security lights at bay. Retail value: $40.
Sponsored item: Dove exfoliating body polish. Each quarterly FabFitFun box comes with at least one sponsored item. As we move from winter to spring, this exfoliating body polish seems like a good idea. Dove promises that this product will remove dull, dry skin from the surface and leave your skin feeling silky and smooth. Sounds like something that might make my home pedicures a bit more luxurious. Sponsored products are always a bonus, so FabFitFun doesn’t include a fair market value.
Bonus: Also included in the box was a $50 off coupon for your first Hello Fresh order. I think I’m the only blogger in the world who hasn’t tried Hello Fresh, so this was a fun bonus and may actually be the push I need to finally try the meal prep service. For those who have a seasonal subscription, this alone makes the cost of the box worth it. (Plus $300+ worth of other awesome products!)
Overall impressions
Of all the boxes I’ve received thus far, 5 in total, the FabFitFun spring 2018 box is by far my favorite. The clutch and earrings are sure to be part of my regular wardrobe rotation for the spring. The lip masks and skin perfecting lotion make great additions to my beauty routine. The eye mask is already in the fridge, just waiting to provide relief for my pollen-irritated eyes. I’m looking forward to using every item in the box. If you want to try FabFitFun for yourself and would like $10 off your first order, use my referral link.
