Sunday Share

Happy Sunday, dear friends!

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend and are ready for the week ahead! This week we are talking about kindness, participation, little moments and a movie I can’t believe I waited until now to watch. You won’t believe it either. I also share why I’m ending this weekend exhausted and renewed.

“Niceness comes from a place of fear.

Kindness comes from a place of love.

I am guilty of being nice and calling it kindness. That’s because I haven’t known the difference.”

What powerful words from Emily Freeman. I hope this post impacts you as much as it did me. I’m thankful for her words and for being introduced to a new book.

“If God is calling to you, asking you to cast your net one more time, I think it’s important. I don’t think a full net is as important as empty hands that have offered back to God that which he has called us to offer.”

I’m guilty of focusing too much on the product and too little on the process and this was just the lesson I needed this week. I had no voice at all for most of the week and had two huge events at work. Perfection was simply not possible this week, but I found it wasn’t needed after all. Doing my best was good enough, even when my best was far from perfect.

“Later that night, after I’d tucked my girl in and kissed her goodnight, I was browsing online and came across Oprah Winfrey’s quote, ‘The only thing you shouldn’t miss is what matters to you’.”

I think this post stuck with me because I have sweet nieces in their early twenties and Jennifer Wolfe’s conversation with her daughter and friend reminded me of late nights with them. It’s good to remember that what matters most to us changes throughout our lives and everyone experiences twists and turns along the way.

I can’t believe it, but I watched Pitch Perfect for the very first time Saturday night. I’m not sure how I missed this movie the first time around, but now I’m obsessed and have already downloaded Pitch Perfect 2 to watch Monday night while Husband, Sister-in-law and Niece are at the Final Four and I’m home with the kiddos. It’s just such campy fun. Unfortunately, I did wake up singing “I saw the sign” this morning, but it’s a small price to pay for such a fun movie.

Y’all, this has been the best weekend. Husband’s sister and her youngest daughter arrived on Friday and we have played our tails off. We had dinner with my parents Friday night (Dad’s first non-doctor or rehab outing since the accident), a great brunch on Saturday and then Husband and the girls went to the Final Four games. Kids and I had two play dates (one after a quick trip to urgent care to get antibiotics for Bunny’s ear infection) and then today we all spent the day at the Final Four Dribble and Fan Fest. I’m taking the day off tomorrow to explore the city with the girls before they go to the final game with Husband. When family lives states away these little visits mean so much. I’m exhausted and renewed at the same time. Check out some fun pictures from the weekend on Instagram.

So what about you? What are you loving this week?
