Sunday Share: Joy edition

Hi, friends! I hope you have had a wonderful weekend and are ready for the week ahead. This week’s Sunday Share is all about things that bring me joy. I hope they “spark joy” for you too.

By now, you’ve probably seen the Facebook live video of Candace Payne opening her Chewbacca mask. If you haven’t, go watch it now. Don’t worry, I’ll wait. Okay, back? Are you laughing so hard tears are flowing down your cheeks? Good, good, we’re all on the same page now. So, obviously, she needs to be everyone’s best friend, right? Y’all, her joy is infectious and amazing. Candace is a worship leader from Texas and was asked to speak to a room full of teenage fine arts students and gave amazing advice to that room full of students. Let me tell you, her advice is just as relevant to adults as it is those students. Friends, she went viral for this advice to be heard. Take the time to watch – it will encourage and convict you. You will see that the joy the whole world fell in love with is just a small part of what makes Candace fantastic.

A friend shared the video below of a master potter at his wheel earlier this week and I became mesmerized. I have loved the art of pottery since sitting down at a wheel during an art camp at the Glassell School as a small child. Eric Landon is the potter featured in the video and watching him work is hypnotizing. I’ve watched the video a few times now and can’t help but think of Isaiah 64:8 and how we are clay in God’s hands. Something about watching this video and thinking on that verse just melts any stress away and fills me with such joy, knowing that God has everything figured out and that we are a work of art in progress. I hope it does the same for you.

I can’t garden for the life of me, in fact, I’m hard-pressed to keep a bouquet alive for more than a few days. But I absolutely love flowers. I’m mad about them. So Design’s Sponge’s post with instructions on how to make 10 different types of paper flowers just made my week. I am wild about the paper peonies and will be making some with Bunny this summer. The second best part of this post? It means a trip to Texas Art Supply, one of my favorite places in the world. If you don’t have a fantastic art supply store near you, you can get crepe paper on Amazon too. While searching for some fun options I found the book Paper to Petal: 75 Whimsical Paper Flowers to Craft by Hand and remembered that I’m helping plan a wedding shower next month…. Yup, paper flowers bring me joy in so many ways.
