Hello loves! I hope you have had a wonderful weekend and are ready for the week ahead! It’s been a quiet weekend after a wild week and today I’m sharing a few favorites that I’ve been reading, listening and watching.
Reading
- Playing with Matches by Julie Hyzy * – I love the White House Chef and Manor House mysteries by Julie Hyzy* and was delighted to discover that she’s started a new series about private detective Riley Drake. This book is a bit grittier than her previous books but, true to form, features a strong female lead who is bound and determined to get to the bottom of the murder she is investigating. Hyzy’s books are fun, fast reads that are perfect evening reads – be careful though, you can easily get caught up in the story and stay up all night! (* affiliate links)
Listening
- Mom Struggling Well Podcast – I adore this podcast. I always wanted to be a mom but have found the reality of being a mom much more of a struggle than I ever imagined. Emily’s honesty about her motherhood struggles and the practical advice she and her guests provide are such breaths of fresh air. I often listen to this one on my way to pick up the kids from school and I always learn something that I can apply right away. This week I listened to #49: When life looks different than you though with Kara-Kae James and loved every minute of it.
Watching
- YouTube – I know, I know. I’m the last person on the planet to discover YouTube. I recently subscribed to Casey Neistat, Pixiwoo, Eleventh Gorgeous and Liss Letters. I’m sure you are all watching most of these channels, but I’ve just discovered them and wanted to share with you. I’ve followed Liss Letters on Instagram, so I’m especially loving watching her create her hand-lettered artwork.
Y’all, this week has been a whirlwind! Wild Man started first grade, Bunny had her first full week as a pre-schooler, Rich and I have both been battling a cold and we went to a great kiddo superhero birthday party on Friday night. We’ve spent much of the weekend resting and recovering from all the excitement. We are looking forward to the new week ahead and the adventures that await.
What are you loving this week or most excited about for the week ahead?

Thanks for the reading recommendation. I’ve been working my way through Agatha Christie but will have to branch out one of these days. Will try and remember Julie Hyzy 🙂
